AFF Progression
After successfully gaining your AFF Level 1 pass you are free to
continue with levels 2-8. Please note that you are not guaranteed to
pass every level first time. If you have to retake a level you will be
required to pay a retake fee.
You will need to take out full BPA membership for levels 2 or above.
The price depends on the month you join. If joining part way through
the membership year the price is adjusted accordingly.
The price for levels 2-8 varies slightly depending on centre. The average price is around £1,000 for levels 2-8. Consolidation jumps are priced at around £35 each. Prices would include equipment hire. We would advise that you budget for around £1,850 to include all 8 levels, 10 consolidation jumps and full BPA membership. This would not include any levels which have to be retaken.
The content of each level is as follows,
Level 1 See AFF Level 1 course
Level 2 Improving your basic body position and practice pulls. Very similar to level 1 but if you are stable one of your Instructors will release you in freefall.
Level 3 The ability to hold the direction you face is the main objective. Both Instructors will attempt to release you for a minimum of 5 seconds.
Level 4 With only 1 Instructor. You will perform turns showing the ability to start and stop the turns in a controlled way.
Level 5 To expand your range of movement. 360’ turns to both left and right.
Level 6 Dive exit with Instructor following. Back loop, tracking and 360’ turns are all included.
Level 7 Dive exit with Instructor following. Consisting of a good stable exit and body position. Backloop, 360’ left and right turns, forward movement with turns and altitude awareness.
Level 8 A solo jump from 5,000ft followed by deployment of your canopy within a few seconds. This is to familiarise you with a lower exit altitude and faster deployment.
On completion of all 8 levels you would then be required to complete 10 consolidation jumps. These are solo freefall jumps observed by an Instructor.
In as little as 18 jumps you could gain your ‘Category 8’ status. On completion of Canopy Handling Level 1 ( CH1 )you will be awarded your BPA ‘A’ License. Which is an internationally recognised qualification.
